Implants & Prosthetics
Making dental implants possible
A sinus lift is a bone grafting procedure that adds bone to the upper jaw, between the jaw and the sinuses. It's often required before dental implants can be placed when there isn't enough natural bone height.
Bone loss in the upper jaw is common after tooth extraction. The sinus membrane sits close to the jaw, limiting available bone for implants. A sinus lift raises the membrane and grafts bone material, creating sufficient depth for implant placement.
Why a Sinus Lift?
Under local anaesthesia or sedation, the sinus membrane is gently lifted and bone graft material placed beneath it. After 4–9 months of healing, the grafted bone integrates with your natural bone, providing a solid foundation for implants.
The Procedure
Most patients experience mild swelling and congestion for 7–10 days. We provide detailed aftercare instructions and medication to ensure comfortable healing. Strenuous activity should be avoided for about two weeks.
